Step 2 - Surface Preparation
Don't overlook the importance of surface repairs. Notice any cracks, scratches, chips or excessive peeling on your vehicle? If you leave these imperfections exposed to the elements without treating, your paint job could seriously suffer. Make sure you repair these issues as soon as possible to give your vehicle a paint job with the smoothest and glossiest finish possible.
The trusted estimators at Maaco North Charleston, will examine your vehicle and recommend condition repairs. Our surface prep options are affordable and will ensure your MAACOVER looks amazing. Repairing any surface issues before painting will allow the paint job to maintain a shiny finish for a long time.
Step 3 - Surface Sealer
You may have noticed that some paint jobs just can't seem to hold their shine. This may be from the uneven color and gloss that sometimes comes from mixing old and new paint. Sealer performs the important task of providing a barrier between old and new paint.This allows for even color application and more gloss throughout the paint job.
Maaco of North Charleston offers three different grades of sealer. The choice of which grade of sealer to use depends on desired durability and the amount of prep work your vehicle needs. Sealer will help your vehicle keep a shiny finish long after the paint job is done.
Step 4 - Paint Services
At Maaco of North Charleston, we offer three paint packages tailored to your specific needs and budget concerns: Basic, Preferred and Premium. What makes each of the three services unique all comes down to two factors: Longevity of the paint, which includes warranty/durability, and the appearance of the paint, which includes gloss, color match, and metallic appearance.
Our Basic #MAACOVER includes an application of a single-stage enamel paint to revive your vehicle's paint job. This service also includes a one-year warranty, along with a glossy finish and accurate color match.
Want greater durability and a reasonable price?
Maaco's Preferred service will accomplish both and comes with a three-year warranty. The package entails a single-stage paint application that uses urethane, which helps prevent chipping and provides more resiliency than enamel paint.
Our two-stage Premium service offers the best look and performance of our three paint packages. It includes a five-year warranty and provides the highest level of durability, superb color match and a perfect glossy finish.
The platinum package is a bundled package of several incredible services that will ensure a superb paint job. Included is light chip & scratch repair, priming and block sanding of all areas after initial prep service and urethane sealer. Step 5 - Protection & Finish
After investing in a quality paint job, make sure to take the steps to protect it. AT Maaco, we often apply clear coats after painting to not only protect the fresh paint job, but to also ensure gloss match and an overall seamless repair.
Step 6 - Proper Car Care
Proper car care can have a major impact on the durability and appearance of your new paint. The right maintenance can help your car hold its color and shine, as well as provide protection from the elements.
When possible, try to:
- Park in the shade, but avoid trees;
- Avoid driving on sand, salt or loose gravel;
- Wash your car regularly.
Washing your car is a great way to remove unwanted contaminants that may be damaging your finish such as tree sap, bird droppings or bugs. It's recommended that you hand wash your car twice a month with mild automotive detergent. Use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratching the surface of the paint.
Be sure to use this as an opportunity to rinse the undercarriage of your car to remove dirt, salt or other chemicals that promote rust.
Four to six weeks following your paint job, we recommend that you wax your car every 3-4 months to protect your new finish. Make sure to use an automotive wax, like Mothers, that does not contain abrasive cleaning agents, such as silicone.
Apply a thin coat of wax using the provided applicator and with short, circular motions apply it to the entire car. Allow the wax to dry completely before removing it. Using a terry cloth towel, apply firm pressure to wipe the wax off using the same short, circular motion.
