Step 2 - Surface Preparation
Surface repair is a crucial step in caring for your vehicle.Chips, scratches, cracks and excessive peeling can ruin your paint job entirely if left untreated. Don't leave these imperfections exposed to the elements for long. Correcting these issues will restore your vehicle's paint job to a smooth and glossy finish.
The professional estimators at Maaco Virginia Beach will fully inspect your vehicle and recommend any necessary repairs. Our surface prep options are cost-effective and will guarantee your MAACOVER is flawless. Performing surface repairs before the final paint job will ensure that your vehicle maintains a glossy finish for years.
Step 3 - Surface Sealer
Have you ever noticed how some paint jobs fail to hold their shine? It could be a matter of that old paint mixing with the new, creating uneven color and gloss. Sealer plays that all-important role of establishing a barrier between the old and new paint. This ensures consistent color and a higher gloss throughout the entire painted surface.
At Maaco of Virginia Beach, we offer three grades of sealer. The right choice is all about durability, and ultimately the amount of prep work needed for your particular vehicle. When it comes to the durability of your vehicle's paint, sealer helps keep consistent shine long after the job is done.
Step 4 - Paint Services
At Maaco of Virginia Beach, we offer three paint packages tailored to your specific needs and budget concerns: Basic, Preferred and Premium. What makes each of the three services unique all comes down to two factors: Longevity of the paint, which includes warranty/durability, and the appearance of the paint, which includes gloss, color match, and metallic appearance.
We apply a single-stage enamel paint to refresh your vehicle's appearance. Our Basic service offers a one-year warranty, and gives your car an attractive gloss and accurate color match.
Need to keep your paint job at a reasonable price but want better durability?
The Preferred package is for you! It even comes with a three-year warranty. It consists of a single-stage paint application that utilizes urethane. This ingredient resists chipping and is more resilient than enamel finishes.
If you're looking for the best appearance and durability, look no further than our two-stage Premium service.
This package includes a five-year warranty and provides the highest level of endurance, glossiest finish and best color match. You'll want to show off this paint job for years!
Step 5 - Protection & Finish
After investing in a quality paint job, make sure to take the steps to protect it. AT Maaco, we often apply clear coats after painting to not only protect the fresh paint job, but to also ensure gloss match and an overall seamless repair.
Step 6 - Proper Car Care
Taking the proper car care steps can have a major impact on the durability and appearance a new paint job. Proper maintenance will help your car maintain its color and shine and provide protection from the elements.
Use these tips to protect your new paint job:
- Wash your car regularly;
- Park in the shade, but avoid trees;
- Avoid driving on sand, salt or loose gravel.
Make sure to wash your car regularly to remove unwanted contaminants that can damage your finish such as bird droppings, tree sap or bugs. We recommend hand washing your car twice a month with mild automotive detergent. Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean to avoid scratching the surface of the paint.
Also use this as an opportunity to rinse the underside of your car to remove impurities that can lead to rusting.
After your paint job is completed, we recommend that you wax your car every 3-4 months to protect your new finish. Make sure to use an automotive wax that does not contain abrasive cleaning ingredients like silicone. We recommend Mothers brand wax.
When applying the wax, administer a thin coat of wax using the provided applicator and with short, circular motions. Let the wax to dry completely before removing it. Using a terry cloth towel, apply firm pressure to wipe the wax off using a similar short, circular motion.
